The use of a and an

Hello, students! (6th E)

I've received two more answers to exercise 1: a / an (on 13th October). One of them is not signed (Whose is it?). The other belons to Gabriel. So, Gabriel and Anonymous, some of your exercises are wrong. I  have already published  the correction. See it, please!

Dear Laura, you have everything correct, except "an university". See the explanation below, please!

"If the next word begins with a consonant sound when we say it, for example, "university" then we use a. If the next word begins with a vowel sound when we say it, for example "hour" then we use an.

We say "university" with a "y" sound at the beginning as though it were spelt "youniversity".
So, "a university" IS correct.

http://www.learnenglish.de/grammar/articlestext.htm

If you still don't understand, we can talk next lesson. Is it ok?

Dear Susan,

I am very happy to be your new pen-friend. As you know I’m fourteen years old like you. I’ve got blue eyes and short brown hair. My father is a lawyer and my mother is a nurse.
I attend a private secondary school, called John Ford High School. It’s a day school for boys and girls. My favourite subject is History. I think it’s fascinating to know about our ancestors.
I live here in Miami, with my parents, my sister Susan and my brother Steve. Susan is sixteen and Steve is eighteen. Susan and I are at the same school, but Steve is at Harvard University in Massachusetts, which is over 2,000 km to the north of Miami, and so he just comes home for vacations and for the weekend once or twice a month. He wants to be a lawyer like my father.
I like living here in Miami because we usually have sunny weather and we are near the beach. Miami is in the south, in the state of Florida. We have lots of tourists coming to visit Disneyworld, which is in Orlando. I love going to the beach, playing basketball and surfing.
My routine is the usual. I always get up early. I always have lunch at school and I come back home at 5 p.m. in the evening I always go to the karate class with my sister.
